Bookkeeper

Due to continued growth and expansion, Liahona is recruiting a Bookkeeper who will bring their experience and team-oriented approach to our growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute full cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense management.
  • Manage inter-department movement of funds, bills, investment income, and lenders fees.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Perform short-term cash flow forecasting to aid in financial planning and decision-making.
  • Manage the cash flow by moving funds between accounts, identifying funds available for mortgage investments versus mortgage funds committed.
  • Ensure seamless electronic file management.
  • Continuously monitor and ensure compliance with financial regulations and suggest improvements to financial processes.
  • Process accounts receivable, borrower payments and commissions
  • Assist in updating and maintaining policy and procedure documentation.
  • General administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in Accounting/Bookkeeping or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience in the wealth management industry with a focus on mortgages or mortgage investments is an asset.
  • CPB (Certified Professional Bookkeeper) designation is preferred.
  • Meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all tasks.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data with precision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information and ideas. 
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Initiative to identify potential issues and develop solutions before they become problems.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to overcome challenges.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle overlapping projects.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • Contributing to a positive and productive work environment, assisting colleagues, sharing knowledge to achieve common goals.
  • Self-disciplined with a sense of urgency for completing tasks.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong intermediate Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Most of the time is remote with some in office time.
